Ring in the new year, ring out the old,
Make a resolution now, c'mon, make it bold!
New times await us, wonder what they hold,
One thing's for sure, some of the same stories will be told -
"The year flew by quickly", "I wish I had done much more",
"Next year I will change", "I will write to friends galore!",
No matter what you did or will do, or whether you are far or near,
2007 is upon us, so have a Happy New Year!!

Aunt Penny at lunch!
It was that time of the year again, when we would have to drag Aunt Penny for her own birthday celebration. You see, she did not like counting the years in her age, just like she did not like (understatement) counting the pennies when handing them out to someone else!
Yet drag her we did, to the new Italian restaurant around the corner. We did not allow Aunt Penny to look at the menu, lest she faint (again) seeing the prices, and quickly ordered the yummiest sounding dishes for everyone. Unfortunately, Aunt did not like what we ordered for her, and so she barely ate. Not that she eats that much anyways - what with all the inflation! ;)
Rest of lunch went without much excitement, but as the bill arrived, so did an "Aunt Penny moment". Aunt Penny, quickly declared "I am not going share the bill - I barely touched my lunch!". And just as the giggles started we heard "and .. please bag the remaining lunch for me.....".

Gen X and the gap!
I am a newbie to blogging and I have been contemplating to start blogging for about a year now. Yet, I am not alone. Many of my friends are excellent writers, but don't have blogs yet.
Yes, you guessed right! I am not generation Y or Z! I am generation X - the computer savy but not yet "out there"! Yes, I am the generation that uses PDAs and pagers! I have just scratched the surface of text messaging and still send paper greeting cards once in while. I love email and chat boxes, but still find myself running to meet friends at a coffee shop after exchanging more than 2 emails on some subject. I am the generation trying to convince our parents to use email more often. And yes, I am
the generation teaching their 2 year olds that there are ... err... were 9 planets!
I have only recently started to appreciate the concept of "generation gap". Till yesterday, I was complaining about it (to my parents of course), but now I am at the receiving end, so am learning to respect it *sigh*. Generation Y and soon to come of age Z are truly "out there"
- so connected. They are so .. so.. free.. roaming the world and its experiences through a few mouse clicks and yet, they are so wired..to their electronic devices I mean. It amazes me how wide their circle is and how they freely express themselves to the world on the internet - that too so creatively. What amazes me more is that they still find time so many other things!
Multitasking is the word of the day I guess...
So here I am, trying to push my X mind to explore this emerging world and see if I can add blogging to the gazillion other things I like to do!
PS: Here is a relevant article from the San Francisco Chronicle

I think the statistics shown for the U.S. can be applied to many other countries around the world, obviously with some differences in the percentages.

First drop in the ocean..
Can a drop in the ocean make a difference? I guess it depends on what
the drop contains. Some times I feel like a sea shell,
watching the waves crash and then become peaceful. Some times I am engulfed in those very waves. At times I watch drops falling into and out of the ocean from the sidelines and some times I feel like a drop in the ocean myself. There is an ocean of thoughts in our life time and a thought may be meek or powerful enough to change a life! So you get the picture. I'll probably be talking a little bit about everything :).
